Roots,  a small restaurant in the port town of Lyttelton (Christchurch) has recently been awarded NZ Restaurant of the Year, 2015.

Chef Guilio Sturla and owner Christy Martin set up the restaurant post-earthquake which was challenging, but equally rewarding.

The restaurant features an open kitchen, two dining rooms and a private courtyard. They offer degustation menus crafted from high quality ingredients sourced from sustainable local farms and foraged ingredients from their surroundings as well as from their own fruit and vegetable garden. They believe in offering food of the seasons.
