World Buskers Festival - Christchurch 
Date: 20th-30th January 2011

Summer is not summer in Christchurch without buskers from around the world performing some of the craziest acts of daring, comedy, acrobatics, juggling and beauty that you will ever see... and only at the WORLD BUSKERS FESTIVAL!

See it all, with street shows at UC BUSKER PARK (Victoria Square), CATHEDRAL SQUARE, the Tip Top BUSKER KID PITCH (Peacock Fountain, Botanic Gardens) and the CPIT MUSIC PITCH (Christchurch Art Gallery Forecourt). And, then the schedule of events carries on into the night with daily night sky aerial shows at the More FM AERIAL STAGE, UC BUSKER PARK and with the Christchurch Casino FIRE SHOWS in both CATHEDRAL SQUARE and the UC STAGE, BUSKER PARK.

One of the highlights of this year's World Buskers Festival has to be the Pacific Blue BUSKERS CLUB, housed in Cathedral Square, this not to be missed venue plays host to NOTHING BUT STAND UP (R18), featuring New Zealand stand-up comedy stalwarts Michele A'Court, Jeremy Elwood, Simon McKinney and Vaughn Smith, and the new and highly anticipated BUSKERS' BURLESQUE (R18) - starring the fun and flirty Lili La Scala, Tanya Drewery, Kevin Joyce and Freaks in a Box.

Christchurch SummerTimes Festival 2010-2011 
The Christchurch City Council coordinates an exciting programme of events each summer with this year’s line up to include Treetech New Year’s Eve in the Square, ASB Classical Sparks, Anthony Harper Lawyers Summer Theatre and Tip Top Kite Day.

From partying at the New Year’s Eve event in Cathedral Square to spending a lazy Sunday listening to local music in the Botanic Gardens, jit will be a time for all to get out and enjoy Christchurch city this Summer.

One of the highlights in next year’s line up will be ASB Classical Sparks in North Hagley Park on Saturday 5 February. There will be special guests making a grand entrance, 66 members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra entertaining young and old, and a choreographed fireworks display to a sensational 70’s classic rock number to finish off the night with a bang.

In addition to the main events, there will be a number of community Summer in the Suburbs events, including activities in local parks and streets across the city.

The World Buskers Festival will also be hitting the streets of Christchurch from 20 to 30 January and the Ellerslie International Flower Show from 9 to 13 March at North Hagley Park.

Here are a few activities that are open for visitors to Christchurch on Christmas Day:

- Two-hour guided bicycle tour of Christchurch with Christchurch Bike Tours (9.30am departure from outside the Information Centre in Cathedral Square - bookings are essential)

- Gondola ride to the top of the Port Hills (gives you a great view of Lyttleton Harbour and the city)

- Caterpillar Garden Tours in the Botanic Gardens
