Christchurch Bike Tours is Open on Christmas Day 2010
Due to popular demand Christchurch Bike Tours will again be running the Original two-hour Bike Tour at 9am on Christmas Day for those in town.

The Sun Princess cruise ship will be docking at 5.30am so there is plenty of time for guests to head into Cathedral Square (25min from Port of Lyttleton) and join the bike tour.

The bike tour was booked out on Christmas Day last year so it is recommended to make your reservations early. You can email Christchurch Bike Tours at chchbiketours@yahoo.co.nz to make a booking.

Exclusive to The Twisted Hop...
The Twisted Hop have a new beer to try - Magnitude 7.1 strong golden ale is only available only at The Twisted Hop from 5pm, 1st October 2010.

Beer Notes: Brewed at 3Boys and interrupted by the 5.1 aftershock then dry hopped and cask conditioned at the hop. Delicious poured straight from the cask... Maybe a little bit cloudy. Wonder why :-/

Otago Central Rail Trail
The Otago Central Rail Trail can be accessed throughout the year, and has been specifically created for mountain bikers, walkers and horse riders. The Trail follows the old Central Otago branch railway line from Clyde to Middlemarch passing though many towns along the way.

The idea of the Rail Trail was promoted by the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC), and The Otago Rail Trail Trust, formed specifically to help create this family-oriented recreational facility. The Rail Trail is a public reserve, and motorised vehicles are not permitted on the Trail. Thus, walkers, cyclists and horse riders have no traffic concerns as they travel the level, graveled surface.

The Rail Trail passes through some spectacular scenery not seen from the highways, ranging from mountain ranges, hills and gorges, across the vast Maniototo plain, through old gold mining towns, ending amongst the fruit growing areas of Central Otago. The heritage of the old railway line has been preserved, with the retention of viaducts and bridges, and some of the old Railway Stations.
