Rugby World Cup Festival in Christchurch... 9th Sept - 23rd Oct 2011
Christchurch City Council will push ahead with plans to hold a Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) festival for the city, despite the announcement that no matches would be held in Christchurch.

Christchurch will now hold a RWC 2011 festival. It will be a place for people to come together to watch the matches and enjoy other entertainment.

It won’t just be about Rugby, it will have hospitality and entertainment options that residents can enjoy. This will be a great alternative for people who are currently missing out because access to our CBD is limited.

Christchurch people have been through a lot in the past few months and they deserve to have an uplifting event like this to look forward to.

Planning is still in the very early stages and details will be able to be revealed as they are confirmed. This will be an exciting event for our city and one that residents will really enjoy later this year, despite the fact that we will no longer host any matches.

IRB officials announced the decision on the future of RWC 2011 matches in the city. Christchurch’s two quarter-finals would be shifted to Auckland while final decisions were still being made on the locations of the five pool matches.

Christchurch Earthquake - 22.2.11
Our guides here at Christchurch Bike Tours are all safe and well. Our deepest sympathies go to the families and friends of those that have not survivied this terrible disaster and those with people still missing. We are thinking of you day and night and pray that there will still be some mircale rescues.

We dearly love Christchurch and hope that we can work to rebuild the city together in the future.

Honeymooners & Proposals
There has been romance in the air on the Christchurch Bike Tours this past week.

It started with a proposal! Yes, how exciting! After the group stopped at Mona Vale estate (during the two-hour guided city bike tour) a lovely Canadian couple wandered off to check out the beautiful views along the river near the homestead. Now Jack must have spotted the perfect spot to get down on one knee while he was biking past as the lovely Sarah came back to our group with a diamond ring on her finger!

This week the tour also had several honeymooners onboard, New Zealand is a hot destination for honeymooners and Christchurch is a very romantic city with it's old English charm, the river, beautiful gardens and lanes. What more could a couple in love ask for...
