Christchurch has been confirmed as the cycling capital of New Zealand after a month-long challenge.
About 100 Christchurch organisations took part in last month's Bike Wise Challenge, clocking up about 450,000 kilometres.

Kaikoura Whale Watch won the supreme prize at the Responsible Tourism Awards in London recently, after taking top honours in the "best in a marine environment" category. The awards are described as the ‘Oscars’ of responsible tourism.
During whale watch tours, boats will also encounter New Zealand fur seals, pods of dusky dolphins and the endangered wandering albatross.
Whale Watch Kaikoura was one of 35 organisations shortlisted for the honours and among hundreds throughout the world nominated for these prestigious awards.
Christchurch is the gateway to the South Island and only 2.5 hours by car. A great way to get your bearings on Christchurch when you fly in is to take a quick guided bike tour of the city on the two hour city bike tour.

Shirley Valentine returns to Christchurch one final time to kick the festive season into gear with some Christmas Cheer. This play will show at the Christchurch Isaac Theatre Royal on the 3rd of December, in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Shirley Valentine is a timeless work, set in 1980's Liverpool, England. It is the story of an ordinary housewife who, on a journey of rediscovery, finds herself a new life.
This play has won numerous awards including Best Comedy for writer Willy Russell.
This hilarious production stars Nancy Schroder of Shortland Street and Hercules fame as the highly funny, ever insightful Shirley Valentine.
