The Nutcracker - Royal New Zealand Ballet
17-20 November 2010

Fun for the whole family, the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s version of The Nutcracker takes the Christmas classic and adds a twist. Based on one of the world’s most-loved ballets, this colourful and fun version is a sprinkling of festive fun for everyone.

“It’s a wild adventure set to Tchaikovsky’s fabulous and timeless score,” Choreographer and RNZB’s Artistic Director, Gary Harris.

The adventure begins on Christmas morning when Clara’s rat-bag brother, Fritz, clouts her over the head with her beloved nutcracker doll. Delirious with concussion, Clara is rushed to hospital where she enters a fantasy world brought to life by Kristian Fredrikson’s eye-popping, bold designs inspired by Hollywood’s big studio era.

Featuring the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
